Grace Art Camp Begins Week Four
July 26, 2009 by Esme Culver

On Monday, July 27, Grace Art Camp begins week four. A record number of children are enrolled in the highly popular Grace Art Camp which was established 13 years ago to serve families in the Portland region who desire summer creative experiences for their children. Over the seven weeks of the camp more than 1,000 children will explore a a folk tale from "The Ancient Near East" and become engaged in one of eight studios including music and dance, drama and puppetry, visual arts, fibre arts, glass, ceramics, print-making and book arts. During the past week the art camp students heard the story from Syria of "The Bird of the Golden Feather" and--among many creative projects offered--constructed a puppet of the bird (shown above).
