This Sunday, January 17, at Grace we will receive a special offering to support emergency relief efforts in that devastated country. Members and friends of the Community of Grace are invited to make out checks to Grace Memorial, placing in the memo line, Haiti Relief Fund. This offering will benefit our partners, Episcopal Relief and Development and Mercy Corps, who are providing critical assistance such as food, water, and medicine, as well as long-term recovery and rehabilitation aid, in the aftermath of the earthquake.

St. Francis Day Blessings for Animal Companions
October 2, 2009 by Stephen Schneider
On Sunday, October 4, 2009, Grace Memorial will honor St. Francis of Assisi with two special liturgies that lift up the gift of creation. St. Francis of Assisi was a gifted poet and ceaseless advocate for the poor, and because he saw the face of God in all of creation, he is traditionally identified with animals as representatives of God’s creative diversity.
The 9:00 am Family Eucharist is a relaxed, 45-minute, particularly child-friendly service that draws on Anglican traditions from around the world. Animals will be blessed in the Church at the end of the service.
The 10:00 am Choral Eucharist will include festive music specially prepared by the Choir and liturgy celebrating animals in creation. After the 10:00 am service, animals and their companions gather in the courtyard for an annual St. Francis blessing. As always, well behaved animals are welcome to attend the service.
