Global Grace

Global Outreach

Grace Memorial Episcopal Church believes that global outreach is timely and necessary in an era of increasing international tension and unrest.  It seeks to fulfill its call to ministry in the world through collaboration and partnership with Grace Institute as well as other strategic global partners.  Global Grace understands the value of collaborative and synergistic partnering with other faith organizations for the enhancement of each other’s core values and their particular creative and compassionate work in the world.  Global Grace understands that all human vocations can make their unique contribution to the peaceful “reweaving” of the world beginning with  education and information via the creative arts, health and healing, housing and shelter and environmental stewardship. Global Grace believes that it is through direct partnership relationships between congregations, arts, cultural and civic organizations that meaningful and compassionate responses, by individuals and families, faith communities and others in the public arena can be made to some of the most intractable problems of our world.

Global Partners

Building on its long companion-parish relationship with Trinity Cathedral in Monrovia, Liberia, Grace will send its first delegation to the African parish in January, 2009.  The intent of the delegation is to create avenues of communication between our two congregations and to learn how we, as a parish, are more able to understand the needs and concerns of our African brothers and sisters in Christ. Global Grace will continue to create avenues of communication between Grace Parish and other global partners, establishing connections between the community of Grace and  the lives of families around the world.

Global Service with Grace

Global Grace will work to arrange domestic and international intercultural intergenerational experiences for individuals, families and youth who wish to explore more deeply the difficult issues of human suffering in the world.

Global Forums

As part of its global outreach effort, Global Grace holds four informational forums each year.  In October, 2008 Global Grace introduced its first forum with a documentary and presentation on Palestinian culture and current political realities on the ground in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Global Marketplace

Fair trade Palestinian Olive Oil introduced to Grace at its October forum, continues to be available for sale.  Watch for more fair trade international items to appear over the coming months at the Global Grace International Marketplace.

Global Grace and Crisis Response

Global Grace supports the efforts of Episcopal Relief and Development, Church World Service and Mercy Corps along with other relief agencies through fund raising and material aid when needed.

The Water Initiative

Global Grace has a Water Initiative that involves education and funding for global water projects. Bishop Mark MacDonald made a presentation to a Grace Parish Retreat on "Water of Baptism - Water of Life" in March of 2006. In November 2009 funds raised at a concert, Blessings and Blues, were used by Mercy Corps to support water projects in Liberia.
